What is ClinicalKey?

Clinical Key combines a broad range of resources within a single interface: Full text journals & reference books; Medline citations; First Consult point-of-care guide ; Procedures Consult surgical videos; Clinical Pharmacology drug monographs and Practice Guidelines from the National Guideline Clearinghouse.

FirstConsult summarizes the evidence, primarily from the Cochrane Collaboration and the National Guideline Clearinghouse.  The strength of the recommendations are based on the SORT (Strength of Recommendation Taxonomy rating system. 

Procedures Consult is an online procedure reference tool that offers video, text and illustrations for top medical procedures on how to prepare for, perform and follow up on the most common procedures required in today's hospital setting. "Procedures Consult covers the procedures required by the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine) and conforms to ACGME standards to help physicians and residents to consistently achieve the best patient outcomes."

ClinicalKey Mobile

ClinialKey is mobile friendly - no app is necessary.  You can use the library's links to ClinicalKey from the web browser on your  device.  The content will not download to your device. 

If you prefer the app format, first register for a personal account using yourTouro email. If you have already created a personal account in another Elsevier product, you do not need to register again.

After you download and open the app, two options will appear – ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing. Select ClinicalKey.

Register For A Personal Account

If you already have a personal account within another Elsevier product, like Scopus, you can log into ClinicalKey using this username and password.

To register for a new account:

  1. Access Clinicalkey from the Sirota Library website.
  2. Click the “Register” link in the top right.
  3. Enter your data.  Your email address will be your username.
  4. Note: ClinicalKey automatically logs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. You can also logout manually.

Why create a personal account?

  • Download ebook chapters.  You can read ebooks online, but you can only download chapter pdf's after you create a personal account.
     
  • Presentation maker – create a presentation to share with colleagues or care teams.  Use this feature to easily download images and incorporate these into your presentations.  Downloaded images include all the copyright information you need to properly acknowledge your sources.
     
  • CME credit – earn CME credits for your usage!  Just click CME on the search results pages for more information.  You must be logged into your personal account in order to receive CME credit.
     
  • Reading list – save a collection of content you can return to when you have time to read it.
     
  • Saved searches – save yourself time by saving a search and updating it when you return to the site.
     
  • First Consult Mobile app – You can download the mobile app for the FirstConsult section of Clinicalkey.  FirstConsult is designed to be a convenient  "clinical support tool" for the busy clinician at the point of care.
