Poster sessions at conferences and professional meetings are a way to visually convey the details of your research or conclusions. This guide will offer you the basics in design, content and printing resources.

Printing posters at the Sirota Library

The library staff can print posters for students who have been granted prior approval by an instructor, faculty advisor, or dean.  The approval needs to be emailed to

Schedule An Appointment

Once approval has been sent, request an appointment date and time by email, phone (646-981-4532), or in person

Prepare For Your Appointment

Set the dimensions of your poster before your printing appointment.

Note: if you change the dimensions after designing the poster, the text and graphics may shift.

The maximum dimension for one side of the poster is 36”.  The other dimension can be up to 10 feet (not recommended).  The most commonly used dimensions are 36”x48” or 24”x36”.  We can print either portrait or landscape (landscape is more common for posters).

Preview your poster to make sure it looks exactly as you want it to.

We can only print posters from PowerPoint or PDF files.  There are often issues printing PowerPoint files created on Macs, so it is best to save your file in PDF format.

Save the files to be printed on a flash drive.

Students must be present to preview the poster on the computer before it is sent to the printer.

Posters will only be printed once!

The library does NOT edit posters.
